El Spooky Prom 2010 es una original y alocada fiesta que combina el espíritu de las películas de serie B terroríficas de los 50-60, con la estética de los bailes de promoción norteamericanos y el rock’n‘roll forever.

Este año el Spooky (Toxic) High School pacta con la Central Nuclear para presentarnos: Spooky Prom (quinta edición) – The Enchantment Under the Nuclear Power Plant, que se celebra el próximo sábado 18 de Septiembre de 2010, de 21:00h – 02:00h.

Miguel Ángel Vivas se une al nutrido listado de directores españoles que están encontrando en el fantástico y el terror una inmejorable vía para dar rienda suelta a sus inquietudes artísticas (Rodrigo Cortés – “Buried” está cosechando unas críticas fantásticas en los USA -, los hermanos Pastor, Nacho Vigalondo, Manuel Carballo, Jaume Collet-Serra…).

Una joven llamada Kristen, internada en un hospital mental, es aterrorizada por una oscura presencia.

Who are you and how the hell you were introduced into the film world?

I just started making my own short films with my parents video camera when I was a teenager. I studied video production after high school and got a job as a camera assistant in television, going on to become a cameraman for 10 years. Now I am a studio director for the same station working for news and current affairs funnily enough. Over the last 10 years I have continued making films and video clips for bands I like. I am in the middle of shooting my third feature.

What is your favorite movie genre?

Post Apocalyptic Action or Telekinesis Horror.

What influence is greater in “El Monstro del Mar”: Russ Meyer of movie monsters from the 50’?

The idea was to have mean, loud talking, females characters that felt like they were straight from a Russ Myer film like, Faster Pussycat, Kill! Kill! and throw them into the environment of a 50’s drive-in monster movie but with the horror sensibilities of 80’s gore flicks.
